Nielsen Says TV Watching At Record Levels: Two Simple Strategies To Reclaim Some Of Your Family Time From The TV

On 21 September 2006, Nielsen Media Research, Inc. revealed the latest statistics about America's TV habit. Americans now watch an average of 4 hours 35 minutes of TV every day. This is up three minutes from last year. Furthermore, a TV is playing in the average American household for 8 hours and 14 minutes every day. That is also another record.

This means that if you are an average family, you are probably having difficulty controlling your TV watching and your quality family time is suffering. These two simple strategies will help you painlessly reclaim a portion of your family time from the tube.

1) Start by turning off the TV at dinner. Approximately half of families today eat dinner in front of the TV. However, dinnertime is the perfect time for the whole family to connect. It is an opportune time to relax and get the news about everyone's day. The family news is far more important than any "evening news." You will also avoid real family drama, when you stop watching "family entertainment" shows and start listening to the cares and concerns of your real family.

2) Second, reserve an hour per day for family time. Turn off the TV, computers, and video games and set aside an hour for interactive quality family time. Put up a "Do Not Disturb" sign on your front door. This may seem like a large chunk of time at first, but it will be relatively painless if you take it from some of your TV programming. Although many families complain about a time crunch, the average family has a TV playing for a phenomenal eight hours per day. Turn it off.

You could even continue watching all of your favorite shows by planning ahead. Record the shows ahead of time, and skip all the commercials. Every hour of TV has approximately 16 minutes of commercials (some have more). The average family that is watching 4.5 hours of TV is viewing over an hour of commercials every day. Skipping the commercials is a painless way of getting an hour to spend every day with your family.

With only one hour of that chunk of TV time, you could enjoy many activities together as a family. Instead of watching TV, you and your family could go for a walk. You could all go outside and play together as a family. You could read together, swing together, catch together, kick together, bike together, hike together, fish together, run together, jump together, cut together, paste together, sing together. You get the idea. Your family could enjoy so many fun activities. All you have to do is turn the TV off for a while.

12 Reasons Your Website Is Failing

Most Saturdays, I conduct a free networking and brainstorming call, where we critique and give makeovers to 2-3 websites. On the weeks that we don't review websites, the calls are generally open discussion of Internet marketing issues.

These calls are just another tool in my very effective marketing arsenal, and you can join them by registering at: http://WillieCrawford.com/free-brainstorming-calls.html

During most weeks, I get dozens of joint venture proposals, and several potential new clients who want me to evaluate the potential of a project that theyre working on.

Many of the joint ventures that I turn down, and many of the clients that I reject, are for the same reason. Their websites are so poorly written that I know that the websites won't convert. I rarely do outside copywriting, but I often suggest revamping their websites before they move forward.

With the sites reviewed on my calls, and with the sites I look at for other reasons, I notice many of the same mistakes. Here are 12 of the most common:

1) The site has no focus. A website should be designed with its primary purpose in mind. You should have ONE thing that you'd really like most visitors to your page to do. Almost everything on that page should lead the visitors toward deciding to take that primary action. Nothing on the page should distract them and "lead them off down other trails."

Common primary actions that you'll want your visitor to take are to join your list, buy your product, download a free trial version, or join an online community. Make sure that you know what you want your visitors to focus on, and get rid of the other distractions. It's been proven that if you give your visitors too many choices, or confuse them, they will simply choose to leave!

2) The site has no email capture mechanism. Most honest copywriters will tell you that in most Internet marketing type niches, a 1-2% response rate to a sales letter is VERY respectable. You've worked very hard to get visitors to your site, and if you completely ignore the 98% who don't buy you're not going to be in business very long.

Incorporate a form into your website that gets them into an autoresponder so that you can follow-up with them. Offer them a free report, access to an MP3 on the topic, or access to an exclusive community. Get them to opt-in, and then you can follow up with them on their topic of interest.

Your opt-in form can be set up "in-line" as a part of the webpage, and even take them back to the point on the webpage where they were reading before they stopped to opt-in. You can also have an exit popup, or pop-under, that offers them a freebie as they're leaving your site. Once they've decided to leave, you'll probably NEVER see them again unless you have a way to invite them back. An autoresponder is the perfect way to do this automatically.

3) The owner is "hiding behind the website." Web surfers are skeptical and distrusting. You need to let them know that there is a real person behind the site. Give them contact information, show them your photo, and even let them hear you. You can easily add audio or video to your website, and allow it to "touch" your visitor on such a deeper level. When people hear your voice or see you talking, and get to watch your body language, you communicate so much more effectively than just the written word.

To add audio to your website, all you need is a microphone plugged into your computer. To add video to your website, all you really need is a webcam plugged into your computer. There are services that will take this audio or video, allow you to edit it with a few clicks of your mouse, and then stream it from their servers or upload it to your server.

A totally amazing service that I use is called Audio Acrobat. I use it to have customers, subscribers, etc., call in and leave testimonials. I use it to record some teleseminars, interviews, product recommendations, and for dozens of other purposes. I do record video from my webcam to this service too. You can also upload video recorded on a regular video camera to this service, and then stream it from their website.

As I said, I LOVE Audio Acrobat. If you want to check it out, you can get a free 30-day trial from here: http://williec.audioacrobat.com/ Its where I have dozens of testimonial lines, dozens of audios, and a few videos. It's also how I save on my web hosting bandwidth ;-)

4) The owner of the site offers no credentials The very first question I ask when reading a magazine article, watching a television show, or reading a web page, is "What makes this person qualified to teach ME this topic." Most web surfers don't trust you, and believe that most Internet sites are out to rip them off. You need to show them that your experience and training makes you qualified to teach them the topic. In addition to formal credentials a professional looking website also shows that you are a serious business person. Don't skimp on your websites design!

5) Not offering proof of statements. It's natural for you to say how great you and your product are. Therefore, that means nothing to potential customers. Get other to share how your product improved their lives. Use media interviews, and statements by officials in professional organizations, to provide third-party validation.

Testimonials with photos, audio, or video, are very powerful. Testimonials with just a set of initials, or a with just a first name, have NO credibility.

6) Offering the wrong payment options. The majority of Internet users prefer to pay via credit card. If your product allows you to do it, and still make a satisfactory profit, consider taking orders through an answering service or call center, via fax, via snail mail, and through third party processors such as Paypal as well. Evaluate each of these options and decide which of these make sense for you.

As an aside, I once considered even offering my customers the option to order C.O.D (cash on delivery). My local postmaster strongly suggested that I NOT do that and also pointed out that it's almost never done these days. He convinced me that it was more trouble than it was worth :-)

7) Using the wrong or too many fonts. When you use different sizes and colors of letters on your webpage you need to have a real reason. When you highlight or underline text on your webpage you need to have a logical reason.

As your site visitor reads your webpage, he will subconsciously ask himself why you emphasized a certain word or sentence on the page. If you had no logic reason, you pull him out of your message as his mind wrestles with the why."

You page should be structured such that a skimmer could just read the headlines and sub headlines and get the message. He should be able to read just the highlighted text and get the gist of your webpage. He should be able to just go to the bottom of the page, read the "P.S." where you've restated your offer, and order without being forced to read the rest of the page... if he's in a hurry. 8) Using header graphics that distract from the message. Your header graphic should spell out or emphasize the main benefit of your product. It should be simple enough that the visitor is not forced to waste time trying to decipher its meaning.

Sometimes, it's better not to even have a header graphic. This is something you should test. You want to get your visitor reading the text on your page, and discovering how your product can help him, as soon as practical. This is what will sell him... not cute or fancy graphics.

9) Not focusing on benefits rather than features. Don't tell your visitor how great the product is, tell him how it will improve his life. Your testimonials should also provide concrete, and very specific, examples of how it improved someone else's life.

10) Focusing on "I" rather than "you!" Look at your webpage and make sure that it talks about the customer and his problem more than it talks about you, your company, and your products. Your customers don't really care about you. They care about how you can help them! Read through you copy and make sure that it answers that question. Make sure that you're not talking about yourself too much, and that when you do talk about yourself, it's answering the question of how you can help the reader.

11) Not emphasizing the guarantee. When a customer purchases with a credit card, or through certain third-party processors, the guarantee is implied anyway. So, why not make your guarantee a selling point? If a customer goes to Visa or MasterCard and states that they are unhappy with their purchase from you, they will get their money back in most cases... and you'll pay an extra fee for the "chargeback." If a customer goes to Clickbank or Paypal with a complaint, they will end up issuing a refund in many cases.

Make it easy on yourself by offering and honoring a guarantee. It will increase your conversion rate, and unless your product is total JUNK, it won't increase your refund rate.

12) Not using a P.S. Many busy surfers will jump right to the end of your webpage and read the P.S.(s). If they were somewhat pre-sold before they arrived at your page, many will go ahead and purchase at that time. Use the P.S.(s) to restate your offer, emphasize the guarantee, showcase your bonuses, and to emphasize any scarcity factor in the offer.

The bottom line is that, if your sales page is horrific, it's pointless to drive traffic to the site. Fix the page before you do anything else, or you're just wasting time and frustrating yourself.

A well-written webpage is so pivotal to the sales process, that many professional copywriters will often rewrite bad sales letters. When they discover great products that they KNOW would sell if the products owners just had better copy, they will often rewrite bad sales letters, pre-sell the products, and then send the "ready-to-buy" customers directly to the order form.

My friend and colleague, Dr. Mike Woo-Ming, recognized the value in revamping bad sales letters so much that he went as far as to set up a membership site, offering members rewritten sales letters for Clickbank products in hot niches. You can check out what Dr. Mike has done, and join his site, if he hasn't already closed memberships, at: http://FixingTerribleWebpages.com Tell him that I sent you.

Fix the 12 common errors covered above, and your website will be more effective than 99% of direct sales websites out there. Don't fix these mistakes, and your sales won't increase, but at-least now you will understand why.

eBay Auction Home Business Tutorial: Don't Charge Too Much...Or Too Little!

In my last few eBay auction tutorials, we talked about what you can sell to make money on eBay and start your own home business. But whether it's an ebook packed with your favorite recipes or custom coffee cups, one of the most important decisions you have to make is the price of your item.

As we all know, the highest bidder in an eBay auction wins the item. There's also a "Buy It Now" feature on Ebay you can use to sell your item for a set price rather than auctioning it off, and that's the way I sell all of my items. If you use "Buy It Now", the purchaser can decide to pay your asking price and purchase the item immediately, rather than having to wait for the end of the auction.

If you're selling a physical item, you have to take inventory and shipping costs into account, and we all have to pay various fees on eBay in order to sell items there. These fees vary depending on how much your item is sold for. If youre selling a physical item, dont try to cut the price of the item and then charge a lot for shipping. For example, theres a certain type of computer cable I occasionally buy on eBay, and Ill see the same cable listed at $5 from one vendor and 99 cents from another. Why? The vendor selling it for 99 cents asks $8.50 for shipping! EBay is really starting to crack down on this behavior, and frankly, its a really good way to discourage customers from making future purchases.

When deciding on a price, the key is to NOT price the item too highbut you also have to avoid selling it at too low a price, because that will make people think that your item has no value.

I went through that personally. When I started selling my first ebook on eBay, I priced it very low, thinking that I'd make up for the low price by selling a lot of them. It just didn't work out that way. If you put too low a price on an item, instead of being happy that the item is cheaper than others, it makes people wonder what's wrong with it. After a while, I raised the price, and started selling more ebooks!

You may have to experiment a bit in order to find the best price to offer your eBay customers, and that's just part of being in business. The key is not to ask too high or too low a price. If you have a competitor on eBay selling the same thing you're thinking of selling, check their feedback to see if they seem to be selling quite a few of them, or hardly any. Adjust your price appropriately, and if one price doesn't move items, try another. And when it comes to selling on eBay, don't be afraid to ask for a premium price - as long as you're offering a premium product!

Chinese Mad About Mobile Phones

Spend any time on the Shanghai metro and youll be impressed not just by its efficiency and cleanliness, but also by the number of thumbs racing over mobile phones, sending text messages to friends. While texting has yet to take off in the United States, where the low price of local calls makes it easy to just dial and talk, in China, SMS messages are all the rage.

(And if youre wondering how people send text messages in a country with no alphabet and more than 50,000 characters, its actually easier - and faster - than you might think. Subscribers write in pinyin, a Romanization of Chinese, and then choose the character they want from a list. Its fast and accurate.)

But its not just messaging that makes Chinas mobile phone subscribers happy. Mobile users in the Peoples Republic are also enthusiastic down loaders of color ring-back tones, tunes that play while the dialer is waiting for the call recipient to answer. General ringtones are popular too, giving cell phone providers and Internet sites plenty of reasons to smile.

In fact, China Mobiles color ring-back tones and other services gave it revenues of 6.99 billion Yuan (US$872 million) last year, more than 2.5 times the amount generated the year before. Its not surprising then that Chinese Internet companies too are scrambling to load up on tunes for users to download.

Although Chinas population is well over a billion, much of the countrys new prosperity is on the east coast. Mobile phone use however, is popular everywhere. China has a relatively low rate of mobile phone use on a per capita basis but by virtue of a population exceeding 1.29 billion it is reviewed as the world's number two mobile phones market, only second to the US with more than 75 million subscribers.

How SEO Companies Create Gateway Pages

If you are thinking of hiring a professional SEO expert or a search engine positioning company one thing you might want to ask them is whether or not they are intending to create doorway pages, also known as gateway pages to optimize your site. This is a common tact of many SEO companies that is used to propel websites to the top of the search engine pages quickly but it is not necessarily a technique that is embraced or condoned by the search engines themselves. This works as long as a search engine like Google does not catch you and penalize you for spamming.

Still creating these gateway or doorway pages is the main service that search engine optimization experts actually enhance a site. What are they exactly? They are pages that these search engine-positioning companies create independent of your site that are stuffed with keywords and then submitted to the search engines. Of course these pages also have a link to your site.

Creating all of these pages is easier for these SEO companies then you think. Many of them use automated software like WebPosition Gold (WPG) to generate pages that will rank high for a search engine. Using a program like this an SEO company can create different doorway pages that are tailored to attract the different

These positioning companies will even go to the trouble to create different gateway pages for each search engine, using the WPG Page Critic function. This tool tells Webmasters what keyword density each engine supposedly wants to see (based on past results), and how many times you should put particular keyword phrases into the text and meta tags of the gateway pages. Rather than spend thousands on a professional you can get a copy of this program or one like it for under $200 (and even less if you look for similar products on Clickbank.)

Internet Marketing: Is Your Website Sticky?

A website is one of the most powerful marketing tools that you can implement. You can update it immediately; it is unique to your business; it can be seen by thousands of people who are searching for EXACTLY what you have to offer; and it works as your sales force 24/7. And, it can be expanded and changed over time.

Make sure that your website includes content that will keep your prospects coming back. This is called a sticky site. Things like articles, tips, and quizzes not only show off your company's expertise and skills, but they are interesting and can educate people about a wide variety of topics.

Here are some things you can do to enhance the stickiness of your site:

1. Update Your Portfolio: If you have a portfolio of your work (photographers, architects, landscapers, designers, writers, etc.), keep your "latest and greatest" work current. Send an enthusiastic e-mail to your customers to let them know when you update it.

2. Write Articles: You are an expert in your field. Customers are hungry for the information only you can provide. Give them helpful advice and tips. On your homepage, let website visitors know about this section.

3. Add a Discussion Forum: Your website designer can help you add a discussion forum. This allows visitors to communicate with each other, and your staff can provide helpful answers.

4. Create a "Links" Page: Customers like being able to find out more information regarding their purchasing decisions. With a links page, you can map the way for them to visit other related websites. People will return to your site as a resource to access this compilation of links.

5. Publish an Ezine: Publishing an ezine will help position your business as an expert in your field. It sets you apart from your competitors and instills confidence and trust in your readers, making it easier for them to do business with you. You can archive your articles on your website on an ongoing basis to refresh your content for business.

6. Ask Your Site Visitors What They Want: Is there something in your business you are considering? Do you want some feedback on a service? Why not ask for your customers opinion? You can post an online opinion poll and down the road, post customers responses.

7. Start a Blog: If you are committed to posting regularly, a blog can be a great way to build relationships with your customers and leads. You can give them advice about services or products, you can offer them helpful advices, and you can give business updates. Best of all, a blog is easy to set up and update!

8. Publish "Audio Bytes": There is so much great technology you can easily incorporate on your website. One example of this is easy-to-record audio. You can create audio reports or radio shows to give your visitors helpful advice.

Leather Lingerie

Want to look good, feel good, sexy, sensual, and comfortable? Leather lingerie could be the thing that you are looking for. What has been considered for long as something worn by the likes of cowboys and bikers to protect themselves form brushes and rashes, is today promising to be an enticing wear for both men and women. While the traditional use of leather as clothing has been for purposes of protection, and hence has involved rather thick material that restricted ones movement, modern use of leather in the form of lingerie assures you a soft caressing experience.

Why leather?

A good question. Lingerie has been around for a long time now and is immensely popular. Can one say the same thing about leather lingerie? May be not. Leather lingerie may not yet be quite as popular as many other common types of lingerie, but thats only because people have not yet experienced it. Wear leather once, and youll find that leather lingerie is something special. Leather is soft and doesnt scratch you when you slip into it. It doesnt itch. The way leather adopts to your body is perhaps its number one attraction. Its initially cool, and warms up as you wear it for some time, leaving you comfortable all the way, and attractive.

Attraction

You bet leather can provide it. Its almost as if you were wearing a second skin. The leather adapts itself to the contours of your skin making it a deliciously revealing inner garment that makes your body more inviting. Leather lingerie can be one of the most attractive and seductive pieces that you have worn (or seen worn by you partner). There are many styles to choose from. You could settle for something bold and beautiful like a leather thong and string bikini. If you prefer to be less adventurous, a pair of leather hot pants or a corset top should do well for starters.

If you are one of those full figure women with a plus size requirement, the world has at last understood your requirements. There are enough options for you extra sized folks to make you look and feel extra sexy too.

What about comfort?

If you are thinking that attraction or no attraction, no ones going to make you wear an uncomfortable piece of leather close to your body, think again. Because leather lingerie is not uncomfortable at all. On the contrary, youll find it most comfortable and pleasant to wear one. Just try it, and youll find out for yourself.

Leather is soft and doesnt scratch you when you slip into it. It doesnt itch. The way leather adopts to your body is perhaps its number one attraction. Its initially cool, and warms up as you wear it for some time, leaving you comfortable all the way, and attractive.

Buying leather lingerie

Once upon a time, you had to walk into one of those neighborhood shops when they were open and hope for the best. Not any more. You have online shops that are open 24 hours a day, seven days a week that you could visit from the comfort of your home when you feel like it. And you get enough variety from all of them put together, because you are no longer restricted to one small building with limited stocks in it.

Romance Your Customers By Making The Easy Sale First

en I was a teenager, I had a friend Gavin, who had a very direct approach with the young ladies in the town where we lived. We used to laugh because he got a lot of slaps, and we were also envious because he was sometimes successful.

Thinking back, I realize that one of the reasons Gavin got slapped so often, is that he was trying to make a very difficult sale. He tended to fail more often than he succeeded. He just didn't know how to romance his prospects.

When dealing with your customers, are you trying to close a sale that is hard to make?

If you are advertising or selling to people who have never heard of you and you start off asking for a relatively big commitment, the answer is almost certainly yes.It is also true when trying to sell big ticket items or complex solutions to new prospects. Are you making the same mistake as Gavin, and turning off many prospects, simply because they are not ready to take such big a step?

As marketers, we can't afford to undermine our efforts with this kind of mistake. To reach a qualified prospect and get turned down is simply too expensive, and the opportunity cost is too high. Like most marketing mistakes, the issues are subtle and are not always obvious to the casual observer.

The key with marketing is to understand that no matter how much success you have with a program, you owe it to yourself to continually find ways to improve your results. It costs exactly the same to run a direct mail piece, a sales campaign or an advertisement that yields 2%, 3% or 4%.So why be content with any response rate, let alone a modest one? What's more, you can often get dramatic increases with only very minor changes that cost nothing.

I have found the easiest way to increase your success rate with customers, is to get a little romance going. The key is to make the easy sale first. My young friend might have been more successful if he had built trust by inviting his prospects for coffee, getting to know them a little better and understanding what they were wanting out of a relationship. So it is with your customers. You have to be prepared to invest time and energy in building trust.

Making the easy sale first usually involves offering something free. Let the customer try out your services at no risk. What can you offer free without breaking the bank? The simplest gift is information. Do you have information that is useful and valuable to your prospective customers? It must not be self-serving, otherwise it defeats the purpose. The best kind of information is the kind that helps them avoid making bad buying decisions, or protects them from dangers they might not be aware of.

You can also offer a free, no obligation consultation or service to new prospects. If your services are good and your prospects are properly qualified, the downside risk is minimal for you. You should get a lot more people trying your service and becoming customers.

Remember, I did say, make the easy sale first. You still have to sell, but it will be easier. Be clear about the benefits your prospects will get if they take this first step.Don't make the mistake of thinking that because you are offering something free, people will automatically take you up on your offer.

However, once they do take you up on your offer, you are well on your way to developing a profitable relationship.

Wireless Network Security

It seems that more and more home users are going with wireless networks rather than the tradition wired networks with wires hanging everywhere and running wild around the house and in the crawlspace. What seems like a good idea quickly turns into a nightmare if you dont vamp up the security of your wireless network.

Speed is of the essence. Typically, one thing matters to new users of wireless, getting connected and browsing that first website. While wireless connectivity can accomplish this, its best to set up your wireless connection securely before venturing out into cyberspace. Below are some tips to help secure your wireless network.

Change the default admin password. Admin passwords are easily figured out by attackers when they are left as the default. Not changing your wireless admin password opens your network to attack and can lead to many problems depending on the attackers agenda.

Another wireless security measure you will need to take is turning on encryption. Enabling WEP encryption on your wireless network will help you protect your privacy and all your info wont be floating around outside your home waiting to be picked up by a passerby. Its important to remember that all your devices on the wireless network will need to have the same encryption. So find the strongest encryption possible that will work on all devices of the wireless network.

Stop the auto-connect feature. Do not allow your devices to auto-connect. Allowing auto-connect may connect to a network that you dont particularly want. Example, you dont want your laptop connecting to your neighbors network and sending info.

Its also a good idea that you install firewalls on all devices that connect to the wireless network. Even if the wireless router is firewalled, its important to also install firewalls on all computers that are connected to the wifi network. Its important that these firewalls be set up correctly and block any intrusions that may compromise your wifi network.

Position your wireless router close to the center of your home. Although the reach of wifi networks can vary greatly, its important to not allow the signal to float around great distances from the main access point. It virtually impossible to stop all leakage from exiting your home. But minimizing the risk to your wifi network will help to protect it.

Another good idea for wifi network security is to not allow broadcast of the SSID. Your router may have SSID broadcasting set up by default; however you should be able to change this setting in the configuration. Church Website Design And Web 2.0-effective Web Techniques For Fulfilling The Great Commission

Wikipedia describes Web 2.0 as an often-misused phrase that refers to second-generation Internet-based services that allow people to share and collaborate in previously unavailable ways. If you cut through the marketing hype of this term, you're left with a simple concept: the web is no longer a static medium with limited or one-way communication. Fully utilized, static church websites, with little or no reach, can be transformed into community-building, self-propagating, communication powerhouses with enormous reach. Is this important to your ministry? No. It's not important; it's critical. Let me explain.

A church, by its very definition, is a community of like-minded individuals who share and collaborate on a common belief and mission. More importantly, in Christian churches, the spreading of this message is accomplished by members of that community sharing their beliefs with others. By utilizing the communication vehicles currently associated with the term Web 2.0, you effectively replicate your physical church and mission on the web. Unlike your local congregation, however, the web-enabled version has instant global reach.

Here's an example: as a pastor you give your sermon to your congregation on Sunday morning. The reach of this sermon is limited to the people present, and anyone with whom they may verbally share that message. What if that same sermon could be available globally, appearing automatically in subscribers podcasting software halfway around the world, within hours of the original? What if these same subscribers were to share that sermon with friends, the original propagating from MP3 player to MP3 player, around the world? Suddenly, your non-congregational reach is exponential. Not only is this scenario possible, it is readily available. Believe it or not, podcasting refers to only one vehicle of what currently constitutes Web 2.0. There are many other such vehicles, each with its own ability to reach separate web populations.

Given the Great Commission all Christian churches are tasked with, utilizing these tools is critical, as any means of exponentially increasing your listener base should be. To follow is a short list of features which should be utilized in your current church website design, or used as a checklist for commercially available systems.

Audio Library: Sermons are the most tangible commodity of a church, and subsequently, should get primary attention. An audio library, distinctly separate from the previously mentioned podcasting stream, allows you to make all recorded features, from sermons to music to instruction, available for online listening and download-capable for later use. This feature should be extremely easy to navigate for your users so that they can quickly locate specific recordings.

Video Streaming: While still bandwidth intensive, video, like audio, can be a very effective medium for spreading the gospel. Where possible, audio should be used unless there are significant visual reasons to do so otherwise. Visual presentations and performances are better candidates for this than the typical Sunday sermon.

Podcasting Feeds: A podcast feed is an audio subscription initiated by users who click on your feed link. If you have ever subscribed to a favorite television series with a Tivo, then you're already familiar with how a podcast works in conjunction with podcast software, such as Apple iTunes. By clicking on your podcast link, users are subscribed, via their podcast software, and subsequent sermons will download automatically for them, becoming instantly available for use on their MP3 players. This is a separate feature from your Audio Library, as podcasts should be regularly scheduled recordings, as a rule of thumb. You may have a great variety of recorded material available, but you may not want every recording linked as part of a regular podcast feed. Make sure any system that you are considering makes this distinction.

Blogging: Blogging is the perfect online mechanism for your pastoral staff to reflect and provide guidance between Sundays. Pastoral staff blogs can help bring repeat visitors to your site and provide a platform for personal insight, that goes beyond the confines and structure of Sunday's sermon. Entire search engines exist for blogs and, because of this, ministries have an enormous opportunity to reach entirely new readers. The most effective blogging will involve having your own blog server versus a freebie account in a shared environment.

Newsletter Management: Electronic newsletters simply cannot be ignored for effective ministry due to their viral nature. A commonly used marketing term, viral marketing refers to the act of one person sending or forwarding information, they found helpful, to others who they know might benefit from it. In other words, an effective newsletter not only finds its way to the subscribers, but they typically forward meaningful newsletters to others. Many factors influence the effectiveness of this method including subscriber management, the quality of the content, and the focus on gaining new subscribers.

Forums: Adequately moderated, church website forums can provide the perfect means for developing a community around your online ministry. Topics can be discussed or debated, church classes can have their own forums for collaborating on teachings, and questions about the faith can be answered. While there are some obvious requirements for moderation, a good system will allow several layers of control that provide a balance of administrative control and management ease specific to your needs and abilities.

Image Galleries: Image galleries provide far more than the obvious display of happy times within your congregation. A well-made gallery will allow optional user interaction, such as rating and voting, in addition to commentary. Most importantly, make certain your system has the ability to send pictures as e-cards. As previously mentioned, this feature is viral in nature, allowing users to send selected images as postcards with greetings to friends, again, greatly extending your online reach.

Events Calendar: No church website design would be complete without a full-featured, fully searchable events calendar. Events can be the lifeblood of a church, and getting the message out, about those events, is mission-critical.

User Polls: While sometimes overused in secular websites, user polls on a church website can be extremely effective for several reasons. Religion and politics have long been the start of many a debate and. as a result, most people are very willing to give their opinions on either topic. By providing effective, anonymous polls, you not only encourage user interaction, but you can gain a better understanding of the mindset of your site visitors. Many times, this can provide great material for sermons!

Email to friend: This little feature should appear on every page of significant content throughout your church website. Its function is to provide a means for site visitors to email a specific page they think might be of interest to their friends. This feature, while seemingly small, is also viral in nature (one person receives it and sends to another) and can have a significant impact in your ministrys reach.

Search-Engine Optimization: Whether you are attempting your church website design by hand, or are using a commercial system, make absolutely certain that you don't overlook good search-engine optimization practice. Without going into a long description of the function of each, make sure that any system you use automates accurate meta tag creation, has a reciprocal link-management system and, if your site is dynamic (database- driven). that URLs are rewritten as search-engine friendly. Overlooking these items will result in decreased search-engine positioning, so pay close attention to these. As your site grows, the more important the automation or near-automation of these functions become.

Multi-Lingual Page Translation: While there is no true 100%-accurate page-translation service available, there are some that do an outstanding job. Make sure that all your content pages have some form of multi-lingual translation capabilities. The more languages you can translate into, the more lives you are likely to impact on a global scale.

RSS Feeds: RSS feeds provide a similar subscription method as podcast feeds do, but they are focused on textual content versus audio. These feeds can be established throughout your site and alert subscribers to changes in content, without them having to browse your site. Areas of your site that do not frequently change (like your statement of faith) are not good candidates for an RSS feed, while constantly updated content areas are. Forums, for example, are great places to deploy an RSS feed, as replies and responses to ongoing threads update frequently.

Mp3 Player Purchase Tips

The idea of a having a portable audio player dates back many years ago, when the option then was a fairly big cassette-tape-playing two-speaker audio system. Eventually these devices got smaller and back in the late seventies a hand size cassette-tape audio player was made available. Now as electronics evolved and with the mp3 audio format, one can satisfy his needs for a portable audio device thru the use of mp3 players.

Mp3 players became very popular and it is very common to see people using it while doing many activities such as jogging, commuting to work, traveling, buying groceries, computer related tasks and others.

For those who intend to purchase an mp3 player, one might consider the following tips:

1 - The internal memory size of an mp3 player will determine the amount of mp3 songs the device will be able to hold. Some models may even have an internal hard drive to store songs, however the size and price may go up a little bit and it is not recommend to be used by someone doing intensive physical activities. Also some models may the have the option of flash memory.

2 - The battery life is a very important feature, because it will determine how many hours the mp3 player will function properly. Make sure the mp3 player comes with an AC/DV adapter for quick battery charge.

3 - There a lots of sizes of mp3 players. Features such as a larger screen, video capability, hard drive and others, all add up to a bigger size. And price too!

4 - The way an mp3 player connects to a computer is a also very important feature. Latest model may support high speed USB 2.0 transfer. Some others may even have Firewire support.

5 - Some mp3 players even may accept other audio format besides mp3, such as WMA format. Check the players specification if this feature is going to be used.

6 - Also mp3 players may have other features besides of mp3 playing. Features such as FM tuner and audio recording capability, may be of some interest to some users.

7 - As for the price just make sure the mp3 player you are buying has just the features you are looking for. Why pay more for features you are not going to be using anyway? Mp3 players can be purchased for prices from fifty up to several hundred dollars. Brand name players will cost even more.

Portable mp3 players have become a must have product of desire among the younger population. After all almost everyone has one of them. So if you don have one yet, its about time to keep yourself updated with modern time.

The REAL Secrets To Building A High-Profit Infopreneur Business

I'm going to share the exact steps, thinking and process planning that goes on behind the scenes whenever an infopreneur launches a new product - so you too can use it to plan a project, create your own information product and start profiting from it.

It's all done by tapping the very same resources anyone has access to on the Internet - all that's needed is knowledge about how it works.

STEP #1 - CHOOSING THE RIGHT TOPIC

Niche research can be a tough task. You've probably heard it said that the best way to find a hot selling product is to look for a problem many people are facing, and then offer a solution.

One of the best ways to do this is through online forums, especially busy ones.

It's hard to detail the best way to conduct such research. Visit the forum. Look for 'hot' threads - discussion topics that have a huge number of page views. As a rule of thumb, if a discussion has over 400 views in a day, or over 1,000 views in 3 days, it's likely to have potential.

As you gain experience in a niche, you might even latch on potentially viable topics simply by seeing the title of the post and studying the nature of the responses other members offer.

When you see the same (or similar) questions being asked on the forum, instead of getting annoyed, see if there's an opportunity you can tap. Study the nature of the discussion each time around - and see if any questions are common, if any issues keep cropping up regularly.

STEP #2 - PLANNING OUT YOUR PRODUCT

At its core, an information product is judged by one thing, and one thing alone - the quality and usefulness of the information inside it. Not by the fancy packaging, not by the method of delivery, not by the fancy graphics or glitzy programming... but by the stuff it offers.

And that's good news - for you

If you have useful information, insider tips, practical experience or extensive knowledge about the topic under discussion, you probably have the kernel of your information product.

And even if you don't have it, but know WHERE to find the information, you're on the right track! Before taking the next step, think about the topics, questions, issues, problems cropping up in the discussion.

This entire process shouldn't take too long, especially when you're planning a short report. For a full-fledged ebook or ecourse, this process might take a bit longer - but still not more than an hour, tops. After all, all the research material is right there in the forum, within the discussions that attracted your interest in the niche!

STEP #3 - CREATING THE PRODUCT

This part is as easy or as difficult as you make it out to be. You could write a report yourself, or might find it easier to dictate and have it transcribed (or even offered as an audio product), or ghostwritten by someone else for a fee.

If you aren't writing from personal knowledge or experience, you might spend some time doing research and reading, online or in your local library. How long you take to do it depends on your expertise, knowledge and depth of material you expect to share in your product.

STEP #4 - GETTING FEEDBACK - AND TESTIMONIALS

One of the coolest things about forums is the amazing folks who will review your creation, offer constructive and extremely valuable feedback, and quickly give you lovely testimonials (if they are happy with what you've created) that you can use on your sales letter.

Ask for suggestions and critiques of just about anything - headline, sales letter, graphics, product - and you'll get willing, useful and very insightful responses.

One word of caution, if you've never done this before... be very specific about what you're looking for, and by when. There have been many times, early on, where I've only ended up giving away samples of my ebooks with little to show in return - because I wasn't clear about 'end points'

STEP #5 - CREATING YOUR SALES LETTER AND PROCESS

The nice thing about this approach is that the sales letter practically writes itself! While you're researching your material, you'll already know your prospect's hot buttons... their biggest worries, toughest problems, most difficult hurdles. If you address them in your sales letter, it's sure to convert enough of them into buyers.

The major issues in the discussion thread will become your copy bullets. The biggest 3 or 4 things will go into your headline. The problem becomes your lead-in to the sales letter. All that's left is to throw in the price, guarantee and sprinkle in testimonials - and you're done!

If you want to do this even better, include an opt-in form and create a multi-part autoresponder sequence or a PDF booklet that offers a sample of your information.

Then, set up your payment processor to accept credit cards, test out the entire process, and you're ready to roll.

STEP #6 - START SELLING YOUR INFORMATION PRODUCT

If you have a list (subscribers, clients, previous buyers), you could launch the report to them first. It's always nice to get a few quick sales under your belt - and it validates your decision to pick that niche to go after.

It also gives you a chance to test the sales letter and process, fix any major glitches. What's worse than having a non-converting sales page is driving a huge flood of traffic to it!

Once you're reasonably satisfied with your sales conversions, it's time to ramp things up - and offer your finished info-product to the audience that's most likely to snap it up... the forum audience that first pointed you in the right direction!

STEP #7 - RAMP IT UP

Once you've got a HIT, run with it! Try all the marketing tactics you know. Test everything and see what works best. Keep trying and growing.

Joint ventures are a great way to extend the reach of a hot product. So are exclusive affiliate promotions - pick the big players in your niche and invite them to help you promote.

What's GREAT about using this technique?

Just this... if you're willing to work fast and furious, you can have your product ready, tested and validated, all within 24 hours!

With this speed, you can test 3, 4 or even more products EVERY WEEK! Just imagine - you can CRUSH any competition who will take weeks, if not months, to get this far.

Online Keno and Keno's Origin!

Keno is an old (now online casino) game that originated in China and was played over 3000 years ago by the Chinese people. The reason how the game, Keno, came to be was that in China, the emperor needed, funds to help pay for things like the Great Wall, to protect his cities, and villages, and money to fund his war crusades. The game, Keno spread all over China and was a great way to raise funds for construction and in many other areas in the empire, instead on taxing the citizens more. The Pigeon Game, that is what the Chinese keno game was called because's the results of these games where transported to villages from cities by carrier pigeon which in turn became hugely popular. They also used character sets instead of the 80 numbers that is used today in online casinos and land-based casinos.

Chinese immigrants brought the game, Keno, over to North America when 19th century railroads where being built. These companies employed thousands of Chinese immigrants to build the railway systems that exist today. Many Chinese played this game for entertainment which lead to non Chinese people starting to play. It took no time in North America for the popularity of Keno to explode.

Online Keno and Online Bingo roughly have the same origin and are linked, plus follow similar online casinos rules. More people today play this very popular casino game then ever, and with the explosion in online bingos and online casinos the future is bright for this game.

At KenoCorner you will find great information and software to play better online and live casino KENO! http://www.casinospokerrooms.com/em/kenocorner.html

A Buyers Guide to Film Scanners

Film scanners are made for the sole and express purpose of scanning film directly into your computer. Unlike their flatbed counterparts, which may be able to handle media of various sizes and thicknesses and can even scan film if a transparency adapter is installed, film scanners scan only one thing: film. But because the image to be scanned is taken directly from the original material - from the film, and not from a print - film scanners allow more direct control over image elements such as cropping and aspect ratio. In addition, film has more detail and dynamic range compared to prints - which invariably lose tonal range and color data during the printmaking process. These are real concerns to photographers and graphic artists, who rely on original slides and film - and film scanners - to ensure the integrity of scanned images in professional and commercial applications. So, if your work relies on scanning negatives, slides, and other types of film, a film scanner is the right choice for you. This buying guide tackles some of the more important things that you need to know when looking for a film scanner.

Style and Type Some flatbed scanners include either an external or built-in transparency adapter that is used to scan film. Other flatbeds are of a dual-bed design; i.e., with one bed - the glass flatbed part of the scanner -for scanning prints; and another bed - a transparency bay that looks like a pull-out drawer - for scanning film. If you intend to scan only the occasional slide or stray piece of film, and don't mind the lower resolution as well, a flatbed scanner that can accommodate film may well serve your purpose. Be aware, however, that the resulting film scans will not be suitable for commercial or professional use. To obtain the best results, nothing less than a dedicated film scanner will do.

Bit Depth

A scanner's bit depth determines the number of bits captured per pixel, which is related to the number of possible colors. The higher the bit depth is, the greater the number of colors that can be shown. Bit depth for film scanners on the market today can be 30-bits, 36-bits, 42-bits, or 48-bits. Always aim for higher bit depth when possible, as this allows the scanner to work with and retain a greater amount of color information. A 48-bit scanner, for instance, produces 65,536 levels or shades of color per R,G,B (red, green, blue) channel, resulting in a mind-blowing possible combination of about 250 trillion colors. In contrast, a 36-bit scanner produces 4,096 levels of information, or a paltry 68.7 billion colors.

Resolution

For scanners, the optical, or "true", resolution is what matters, as this is the actual number of pixels being read by the scanner's optics. Film scanners have much higher resolution figures compared to flatbeds, with optical resolution in film scanners ranging from 2700 dpi to 5400 dpi, and 4000 dpi being the most common. The high resolution in film scanners allows you to enlarge small images, creating enough pixels in the process to print in full-page size.

For instance, a full-frame 35mm color negative scanned at 2400 dpi will result in a size of about 3400 x 2200 pixels. If this 2400-dpi image is printed at 300 dpi, the resulting printed image will be 8 times larger than the original film size (2400/300=8). In actual terms, this means that your original 1.4 x 0.9-inch film (36 x 24 mm) can be increased by 8 times to 11.2 x 7.2 inches when printed at 300 dpi - without any loss of image clarity or detail. A word of caution: Because film scanners can scan in such high resolutions, file sizes can be big. Scanning the 35mm negative at 2400 dpi in the example just cited will result in a file size of 22 megabytes.

Film Formats

Most film scanners work with 35mm film. Some can scan APS film, but an optional APS adapter is needed to batch scan the full APS roll. Other film scanners, such as the Microtek ArtixScan 120tf, can scan medium format film as well, ranging from 6x6cm to 6x17cm panoramic. Check to see what types of film holders are provided with the film scanner; most models will include a 35mm slide holder as well as a 35mm filmstrip holder. A few models offer optional autofeeders that accommodate 50 mounted slides to allow efficient batch scanning of film.

Interface

The hardware interface of your film scanner will determine how long it takes to transfer digital data to a computer for processing. Together with the actual operational speed of the scanner, the hardware interface plays an important part in determining scan speed. Most older film scanners have SCSI ports; the newer film scanners feature FireWire or USB (Hi-Speed or USB 1.1) interfaces. Models with either USB or FireWire interface are hot swappable - which means the scanners can be plugged or unplugged from other devices to which they are connected without having to turn the scanners off and on.

Dynamic Range

The dynamic range of a scanner measures how well it can capture the tonal range of an image, ranging from the brightest highlights to the darkest shadows. Dynamic range is a more important spec in film scanners than it is for flatbeds, because film and other transparent media have a broader range of tones compared to photos or prints - something that film scanners are perfectly equipped to capture and show. Dynamic range is measured on a scale from 0.0 (perfect white) to 4.0 (perfect black), and the single number associated with a scanner indicates how much of that range it can tell apart. The minimum and maximum density values that can be captured by a scanner are called Dmin and Dmax, respectively. If a scanner's Dmin was 0.2 and its Dmax was 4.2, then its dynamic range would be 4.0. The dynamic range of film scanners are usually advertised by their manufacturers as falling somewhere between 4.0 and 4.6, but these are intrinsically difficult figures to prove or validate, and a model claiming a higher number may not necessarily have better results to show, mainly because of variances in testing and determining the figure. A more practical way of assessing would be to visually check how shadows and highlights are reproduced by the scanner and then compare the results to the original image or to how other scanners reproduce those same tonal colors.

Dust-and-Scratch Removal, Film Repair

Software provided with film scanners can be specialized and varied. Like flatbeds, film scanners will include their own driver or scanning software, as well as bundle an image-editing program - such as Adobe Photoshop - into which scanned images are delivered and placed. In addition, higher-end film scanners may include a color calibration and ICC profiler program, which ensures consistent color by creating a color profile specific to the film scanner. With the ICC profiler program, an image - known as an IT8 target and containing industry-standard color values - is scanned, and then compared to values that the scanner actually recorded. The differences are then translated into a compensation scheme to even out color variations, so that accurate color results can be produced in the future.

Dust and scratches on film can present a big challenge for film scanners, as imperfections can take on gigantic proportions when the film is scanned at the scanner's very high resolution. Film can also be damaged through improper handling, and what appears to the naked eye as a tiny scratch may render the image on a film practically useless. For this reason, a number of film-repair technologies have been developed to remove imperfections, allowing an image to be reconstructed and printed flawlessly, as though it came from a pristine original. These film-repair technologies may be implemented either through software alone, such as the dust-and-scratch removal feature from the SilverFast program by LaserSoft Imaging; or through a combination of hardware and software, as is the case with the DIGITAL ICE technology built-into some models.

Other technologies

Depending on the model, film scanners may incorporate proprietary technologies unique and exclusive to their manufacturer. Such technologies may include an auto-focus mechanism to ensure perfect image capture, a patented feeder mechanism, or specially designed holders for making film stay flat. These features may make a real difference in improving the quality of your scanning or streamlining your workflow.

How To Learn Designing Your First Website

In learning web design, HTML (HyperText Markup Language) is something you must know, WYSIWYG (What-You-See-Is-What-You-Get) HTML editor is something you must have and CSS (Cascading Style Sheet) is some big treasure to you which deserves burying yourself into it deeper and deeper.

HTML is a common language for building and designing website. It tells the Internet browsers like Internet Explorer or Firefox how to display web content on the screen via HTML tags. In fact, everything you see on the web is under the control of HTML. What is HTML editor? It is a software like Macromedia Dreamweaver or Microsoft Frontpage which helps you to create websites even though you know nothing about HTML.

WOW! Does it mean by using HTML editor, you need not learn HTML yourself?? NOT necessarily. Below Ill explain why and will also talk about some learning tips.

HTML

As I told you earlier, everything you see on the web is under the instructions written in HTML. Therefore, HTML editors also create webpages using HTML. The difference is that when you use HTML editor, you just have to click the buttons to "draw" webpages as you see on screen (What-You-See) and then HTML editor writes the HTML tags for you to display the webpages on web browser in exactly the same form (What-You-Get). However, it always happens that HTML editors write clumsy HTML tags, especially when you amend the webpage layout again and again during your website designing process, which may possibly deter search engines from reading your web page and in turn poorly affect your search engine ranking. What's worse, your website cannot even be listed in search engines at all! The clumsy HTML codings will also increase your file size and hence the loading time, encouraging visitors to leave your website soon. Therefore, you should understand HTML to unable yourself to modify the HTML codes produced by WYSIWYG HTML editors. Besides, in the designing perspective, there are also some design limitations and restrictions using HTML editors when compared to free writing of HTML codes. If you would like some special design or custom look to your webpages, you are recommended to have some knowledge on HTML yourself. In more advanced level, if you are to do SEO (Search Engine Optimization) for your web page, you should know how to make use of meta tags like title, content, alt, header, etc. in order to attain better keyword positions in search engines. If you just happen to own a website designed by others, you should learn HTML in order to edit the context of your website without the need to depend on someone else in this simple but routine updating task. Or you have no website yet but you like to write articles to be displayed in others' websites, you also should learn HTML in order to create appropriate links in your articles for others' easy reference.

Tips: If you have already got some basic knowledge on HTML, you may study Getting Started With HTML which is the most popular free HTML tutorials online provided by World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) which develops interoperable technologies including specifications, guidelines, software and tools to lead the Web to its full potential. If you still find the above tutorials too difficult or boring to start with or your time being too limited, One Hour HTML is highly recommended for you. It is a practical program to take you step by step in learning HTML from the very beginning and it offers you hands-on HTML encoding experience instead of merely teaching you theories so that you could have already experienced creating webpage using HTML as early as in the first hour of learning.

WYSIWYG HTML Editor

Indeed, despite my understanding on HTML, like many other web designers, I like to use WYSIWYG HTML editor such as Dreamweaver a lot and in fact, I can't even think of living without it once I encountered it as it saves me so much time in writing the complex HTML codes and the best advantage is that i can immediately visualize the effect in the splitted WYSIWYG designing screen whenever I change the HTML codings above in the HTML encoding screen! I am not contradicting myself. In fact, the key to make use WYSIWYG HTML editor software is that you have to learn the software well and to use its buttons for quick and easy HTML editing yet you don't let the software generated HTML codes to take the control but it is you who know how to master all HTML tags and to make any necessary changes to the HTML tags in order to bring the best visual and seo benefits to your website. Among all HTML editors in the market, Dreamweaver and Frontpage are the most popular ones. Dreamweaver is very popular among professional web designers while Frontpage is popular for small enterprise users. Dreamweaver has more user-friendly features than Frontpage which include its seamless integration with Flash, its automatic generation of closing tags once you enter the opening tags, the fact that it would not automatically re-write your codings like Frontpage does when you save an external HTML page not created by Frontpage, etc. Despite less user-friendly features, Frontpage is a Microsoft Office's tool which many of you will be familiar with and it is fine enough for creating or editing websites for small projects.

Tips: If you have never encountered HTML editors before, you may download the free trial provided by Macromedia. There are a few good Dreamweaver tutorials in the market. Among those, Tutorials-4-You and Dreamweaver Made Simple are two more popular ones due to the interactive nature of their video tutorials, giving Dreamweaver beginners hands on experience in using Dreamweaver from the very beginning of the tutorials. For Tutorials-4-You, a free demo is offered for you to experience the tutorials yourself and you can choose the version of Dreamweaver in meeting your practical needs. For Dreamweaver Made Simple, you are offered free download of a few chapters of the videos plus the ebook. Why not giving a try? It's free and for sure you'll have a lot of fun!

CSS

Aha! So it comes the time for CSS. If you are using HTML editors like Dreamweaver, indeed you are using CSS and creating styles yourself without even your noticing it! Wait, so you may ask, why do I need to learn CSS when I am able to create styles even without my own notice using an HTML editor? I can just tell you the answer is - "magics". Yes yes, CSS is indeed a magic and it also creates many magics. But are you satisfied if you are just able to perform one of the many magics of CSS? Your answer is surely NO. Let me tell you what the CSS magics are.

CSS Magic #1:

- You no longer need to rewrite the same set of presentation style attributes like font color, background style, alignment, border, size, etc. repeatedly within the HTML codings but can group the set of attributes into a single style class within the stylesheet. In your HTML document, you just have to call it out using the style name. CSS is well designed to allow the separation of presentation style from the main content and a stylesheet can either be included inline as part of the HTML document or referenced externally as a CSS file. (So you may have already tried this magic from Dreamweaver)

CSS Magic #2:

- You now have great control over how your website looks and can change the presentation of hundreds or even thousands of your web pages by altering just one file (i.e. your stylesheet!) if it is referenced externally as a single source by your different web pages instead of being contained inline in each one of your web page. Presentation information including positioning, layout, font, color, etc. for your entire website can be contained in this single CSS file.

CSS Magic #3:

- You can eliminate the use of table to be nested inside some more tables for your web design layout anymore as you may now use the CSS file to control the positioning of all elements inside your website. Spiders no longer have to crawl through each one of your tables and page loading time can be much faster as visitors only have to download the lightweight stylesheet once and it is automatically reused for every page. Whats remained to be loaded is the actual HTML content which is now much smaller in size and hence your website can be made visible in a flash! Whats more, you can now get rid of a lot of complicated codes with tables and so your site code can be cleaner and neater for prior view and amendment.

CSS Magic#4:

- You can use CSS to place your important keyword phrases at top of your web pages which search engines love before other of your source code. In such a way, you can gain search engine ranking benefits as search engines like Google gives more weight to content closer to the top of your HTML document and now search engines can pick up the main content of your website first before your header images or navigation menus.

CSS Magic#5:

- You can use CSS to simulate some beautiful javascript effects like rollover buttons in your website design. Yet, you need not have any images visible on your html codes which will slow down your page loading time and you need not worry about visitors turning off javascript in eliminating pop-ups as for now, all are done just inside your CSS file instead of your HTML documents. Actually CSS can bring about much more than the above 5 magics. As I said in the first paragraph, learning CSS is not a "must" but you can certainly perform magics in your website when you know it more and more. Moreover, using CSS is a trend in web design and it is also conforming to future web standard in letting your website compatible with different browsers and making it much easier to be spidered by different search engines.

Tips: I myself am learning it right a way and I find myself like a magician whenever I learn to eliminate the long HTML tags and replace them using CSS! I have done many researches on CSS tutorials and I find How To Master CSS of such a high quality and it meets my needs so well! It is a CSS know-it-all, teaching me all I need to master CSS in simple languages and how to use CSS to its full potential. Its step-by-step training videos and comprehensive CSS book are my favourites and it is even used by school teachers in teaching web design in class! Its really worth a try if you are to learn CSS yourself. There is also a 100% risk-free money back guarantee, as for other professional web design related tutorials that I recommended. But Im sure you wont need it after your first trial on the tutorial! If you want a free tutorial regarding some basics of CSS instead, I would recommend Adding A Touch Of Style which is also provided by the reputable World Wide Web Consortium (W3C).

Conclusion

Building and designing website is not as difficult as you think. It just takes you hours to start with but of course it takes more time for your further practices. However, it will become your valuable asset for life once you've acquired the skill and got to know the crack. Don't you hesitate anymore. Start learning it today!

Law Firm Internet Marketing An Executive Summary Using The Q&A Format Part I

What do I need to know first about law firm Internet marketing?

In modern business, it is not the crook who is feared most, it is the honest man who doesnt know what he is doing. Pablo Casals

There are tons of vendors out there who want to sell you websites and law firm Internet marketing services. Most are honest people who simply dont know what they are doing. In many cases, they are attempting to sell you something that is overpriced and that wont produce you any new clients at all, let alone good clients. The attorneys I have worked with report to me that the whole Internet marketing process confuses them. They dont know who to believe. Some have spent considerable sums already on websites with little or no results. I aim to stop all that. So keep reading.

Do I need law firm Internet marketing?

Yes. According to Reuters News Services by 2007 there will be over nine million legal services searches done online each month. Additionally, prospective clients and clients expect you to have at least a website or think you may be behind the times if you do not. Finally, while the yellow pages are not a good attorney marketing vehicle today they are going away since people are searching the Internet and not going to the yellow pages.

What is/is not law firm Internet marketing?

Having a website is not law firm Internet marketing. At a minimum you do need at least a brochure website of a few pages, however, that website is unlikely to get you new business and is definitely not Internet marketing. The rest of this article (in four parts) is going to help you get clear on what Internet marketing is all about.

Where does Internet marketing begin?

Law firm Internet marketing begins with you becoming an educated consumer and then keyword research. Researching your practices best keywords will tell us what words your prospective clients are using to search for legal services on search engines, what legal services your prospective clients are the most interested in, what your prospective client is thinking, how to attract these prospective clients to your site at the search engine instead of going to your competitors site, what your competitors are doing/not doing, what content to write for each of your top keywords (recommend writing a page each to at least the top 20 keywords), what are the words to use for PPC law firm advertising and how to begin search engine optimization. If you have not adequately completed keyword research using software tools like Wordtracker you have not done adequate keyword research and are likely to fail at your law firm Internet marketing.

You mentioned, what content to write for each of your top keywords. What are you talking about exactly?

I am talking about what is known as the CTPM model of Internet marketing developed by Ken Evoy M.D. in 1997. This model works because it is in total alignment with how the Internet works. The C is the first part of the model and it stands for Content create in demand content (you determine what is in demand from the keyword research). The T is Traffic attract targeted traffic. The P is for pre-sell pre-sell the targeted traffic (using such things as newsletters, RSS feeds, free downloads, e-books, autoresponders, audio, video, and teleclasses). The M is Monetize this is where you convert these pre-sold prospective clients to clients easily.

You mentioned, tools like Wordtracker with respect to keyword research in law firm Internet marketing. What is Wordtracker?

Wordtracker is a software tool that can be used to thoroughly research your keywords. Wordtracker is at least arguably the best keyword research tool in the marketplace and there are others. You can go to http://www.Wordtracker.com to get all the details. Your vendor can use this tool easily and should use it for keyword research to put your law firm internet marketing on the right track from the beginning if at all possible.

You also mentioned how to begin search engine optimization. What is meant by search engine optimization (SEO) and exactly what is it and how does it fit into law firm Internet marketing?

There is no mystery in SEO in particular and law firm Internet marketing in general so dont let anyone bamboozle you on that one. As I said earlier SEO begins with appropriate keyword research. If you have not done that you are dead in the water since this is the foundation of everything that comes after in law firm Internet marketing. The next step is the C or content mentioned earlier in the CTPM model. You will need to write keyword optimized content to each of your top 20 keywords or another way to say this is writing your content in the way that search engines want to see it so they rank you higher than your competitors. Your content needs to fit together in a site plan (the term site plan refers to in what order your pages will appear and how they link to one another) that has an appropriate pyramid type structure. This pyramid type structure includes your home page (the peak of the pyramid) themed keyword phrase being supported by all the tier two pages (the next layer of the pyramid) and their tier three pages (usually the base of your pyramid although you could go deeper) support them resulting in higher rankings for all of your pages. There are some technical aspects to SEO as well like the use of clean HTML, heading text, meta tags, alt tags, site map, etc., however, mercifully I wont go into those since they should be known to your technical person. The bottom line is put nothing in the way of the search engines spiders (spiders are sent out from the search engine to read the sites on the Internet) being able to read your site like fancy flash pages get in the way big time for instance. To know more in depth about keyword optimization you can go to http://www.Wordtracker.com where they have a really fine Keyword Research Guide if you want to know more of the details. All of what I just told you is known as on site optimization strategies for law firm Internet marketing. There is also off site optimization as well involved in SEO. Off site optimization means getting one-way links from high-ranking pages of other sites that are related to your top 20 keywords (there we are again with that keyword research being vital) that link to your site. Search engines see these links like a vote for your site. The more high quality votes you have the higher they will rank your site. The term link popularity is used to describe this process in law firm Internet marketing. The royal road to high quality links is having (here he goes again) keyword researched and keyword optimized quality content on your website. You get these links from website directories, article directories, online forums, press releases, etc. I left out reciprocal links because most SEO authorities think they are no longer worth the effort since they are difficult to get and dont really contribute much (or can even hurt) to your page ranking.

We have completed the first part of law firm Internet marketing at this point. In part two we will go into Google Page Ranking, dealing with your competitors, RSS, the factors surrounding costs of law firm Internet marketing and more. I am committed to you being a master of law firm internet marketing at least to the point you will get new clients from your efforts and not get taken to the cleaners by vendors who may not know any better.

A Review of Billing Software

Recent recurring themes, like cutbacks and downsizing, are in the news every day when it comes to businesseses of all sizes. Due to those problems there are now less people in the companies left to complete essential company work and thats typical for every company. Fortunately there are products that can help companies cope with the results of that trend. Billing software is one of those products. As there always are bills to be processed no matter the size and the type of the business itself, there are a number of programs to choose from that can help doing that, and that include so many additional useful features that they can actually match the needs of any company.

Such software can be used for example both in a medical clinic and in a law firm. It will equally well serve for medical billing that includes direct billing of patients, processing claims to insurance companies and many others depending on the situation and for the law firm to track time thats billed to a certain customer. This professional billing software is capable of tracking incurred expenses by the attorneys work also and many other things.

Application of such software seems to be unlimited as it can also be used by merchandise selling companies. Such program can be so set up that it will send and track invoices and include them for the specific time periods required. What is more, the billing software can fit perfectly a company with routine expenditures as it can produce time based bills electronically for all the automatic and recurring purchases.

Billing software can manage claims made by both suppliers and customers, and in addition it can process employee time slips for example. Not only will it process them but it can also calculate automatically and process payroll deductions based on that too. In some companies they have it even easier. Employees enter their timesheets electronically and the billing software generates a calculation of their exact pay. So if you set the daily or hourly wage for an employee, the software itself keeps track of time-slips, payments, accounts and all necessary details. Of course there are online billing programs too. Such programs dont even require software for the companies with mostly routine expenses that dont fluctuate significantly. They do offer quick and easy to follow billing procedure though.

Billing software has just as many variations as the different factors that make up a business as it is. Having different sizes, numbers of employees, etc. or the function of the company being manufacturing, distribution or dealing with different professionals to generate business leads to a great variety in the requirements each company has for its billing software. In order to help with that situation there are free directories that match billing software with company requirements. The billing software will be a great help for you but you have to make sure that you choose the right program for your type of business and your needs exactly. Thats why it is always better to use the help of those directories, search them through and find the perfect match.
